Our Articulated Haul Truck Training Course (RIIMPO337E) is designed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge required to safely and efficiently operate articulated haul trucks in a variety of civil construction, mining, and earthmoving environments. This nationally recognised qualification is ideal for those looking to work with articulated haul trucks in industries that require transporting large amounts of materials across challenging terrain.

The RIIMPO337E course focuses on the operation of articulated haul trucks, teaching students to handle the truck’s articulated steering, loading and unloading techniques, and operating in various environments such as rough terrain and construction sites. Participants will learn key skills such as loading, transporting, and dumping materials, as well as conducting safety checks and performing basic maintenance.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Operate an Articulated Haul Truck Safely: Understand and apply safe operating procedures to reduce risks and hazards when using articulated haul trucks.
  • Articulated Steering Control: Learn to manage the unique steering system of an articulated haul truck, which allows for greater manoeuvrability in tight or uneven spaces.
  • Material Transport and Handling: Safely transport large volumes of materials, including dirt, rock, and debris, across varied and often rough terrains.
  • Loading and Unloading: Use correct loading and unloading techniques to maximise efficiency and safety while preventing damage to the truck or surrounding infrastructure.
  • Machine Maintenance and Inspections: Conduct pre-operational checks, monitor the condition of the truck, and perform basic maintenance tasks to ensure safe and smooth operation.

Worksite Compliance: Apply industry standards and safety regulations in day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental standards.

The course typically lasts between 1 to 3 days depending on the participant’s previous experience and the depth of training required.

This course is suitable for:

  • Beginners: Individuals who are new to operating articulated haul trucks and want to gain skills for a career in construction, mining, or earthmoving.
  • Experienced Operators: Those who already have experience but want to formalise their skills with a nationally recognised qualification.
  • Employers: Businesses that need to upskill their workforce to ensure safe, efficient operation of articulated haul trucks on job sites.

Experienced operators must have a minimum of 60 hours of operating an Articulated Haul Truck within the last twelve months and can be verified by an employer reference.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the RIIMPO337E unit and Verification of Competency Certificate (VOC), which is nationally recognised and qualifies them to operate articulated haul trucks across various industries.
