Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Our Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009) is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to perform CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit focuses on responding to cardiac and respiratory emergencies in various settings.

The HLTAID009 course provides students with the theoretical understanding and practical skills to assess an emergency situation and deliver effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation to adults, children, and infants. It also includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and strategies for managing an unconscious casualty until professional medical assistance arrives.

By completing this unit, participants will:

  • Respond confidently to cardiac and respiratory emergencies.
  • Perform effective CPR on adults, children, and infants.
  • Safely operate an AED and integrate its use into a resuscitation scenario.
  • Comply with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements when providing CPR.

Typically delivered in 2–3 hours.

This course is suitable for:

  • Workers across all industries requiring annual CPR certification for workplace compliance.
  • Individuals who want to acquire or refresh CPR skills for personal knowledge.
  • Parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members who may encounter emergencies.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Certification is valid for 12 months and must be renewed annually to maintain currency.
