Our Water Vehicle/Cart Training (RIIMPO326E) is designed to provide students the essential skills and knowledge required to safely and efficiently operate a water vehicle in the civil construction, mining, building, facilities and asset management industries. This nationally recognised qualification is perfect for those looking to work with water vehicles for dust suppression, road maintenance, and other water distribution tasks, particularly in heavy industry and mining environments.

The RIIMPO326E course focuses on providing the skills and knowledge required to operate water carts safely and effectively. Participants will learn how to use the water vehicle for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to load, haul and distribute water to complete work activity, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices. The course combines theoretical learning with practical, hands-on training to ensure students are prepared for real-world worksite conditions.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Pre-operational Checks: Perform inspections to ensure the water cart is safe and operational, including fluid levels, brakes, tires, and other essential systems.
  • Operation Techniques: Learn to drive and operate water carts in a range of conditions, including varying terrain and weather.
  • Water Distribution: Understand proper water spraying techniques to control dust and maintain road conditions.
  • Load Management: Safely manage and distribute loads, ensuring compliance with load limits and safety standards.
  • Safety Practices: Apply workplace safety protocols, identify hazards, and respond to emergencies.
  • Maintenance: Conduct basic maintenance and post-operational checks, reporting any faults or issues with the equipment.
  • Environmental Compliance: Understand and follow environmental regulations related to water use and distribution.

The course typically takes 1 to 2 days depending on the participant’s level of experience and the course’s specific requirements.

  • a valid driver’s license suitable to the class of Water Cart that you will be operating (e.g Medium Rigid, Heavy Rigid).
  • Experienced operators must have a minimum of 60 hours of operating a water vehicle within the last twelve months and can be verified by an employer reference.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the RIIMPO326E unit and Verification of Competency Certificate (VOC), which is nationally recognised and qualifies them to operate water vehicle/cart across a range of industries.
